Wordpress
WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time. Networknet is powered by Wordpress and for me de facto as a blogging platform. I am using Wordpress for more two years and can’t find something familiar.
Wordpress is a Open Source project where hundreds of people all over the world are working on. Two years ago this project opened my eyes for Open Source and since than I am using and trying out other projects.
Wordpress is completely built on web standards and requires PHP and mysql. If you want start using Wordpress than there are two options:
- Register a blog at WordPress.com and in seconds you are ready to go. The service is free but less flexiable.
- Download and install WordPress on a hosting provider server with Linux platform and support for PHP and mysql database. In 30 minutes you should be able to go and start blogging yourself
Writing, managing and maintaining your Wordpress blog is easy as browsing a website and with it’s Admin pages you can do everything with your popular browser. Firefox and Google Chrome are doing much better than Internet Explorer. For a while I used Windows Live Writer but I see many advantages without it.
Example of Writing a page:
