For last couple of hours I am struggling with installing the SSP provider for Sharepoint 2007 server. During the creation of a new SSP provider a Indexer is required; well I can’t select any because it is empty. Searched on google and found out that I need to start “Office SharePoint Server Search” service in Central Administration website “Central Administration > Operations > Services on Server” and enable that service. Guess what? The service is missing. Example screenshot: Than I found my mistake. During the installation of Sharepoint 2007 I choose for Server type"Web Front End" instead of “Complete”. I went back to my notes I created during the installation and I saw in the screenshot “Web Front End” server type was selected… Related links: Installing a New Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Portal: Step-by-Step Instructions Deployment for 2007 Microsoft Office SharePoint Server

When uploading PDF documents to “Document Libraries” in Sharepoint 2007 the icon is missing. It takes couple steps to get this done. One task to your planning when putting the Sharepoint 2007 server in production. I run these steps in my DEV environment. Follow the hyperlinks below to get this done in your Sharepoint 2007 configuration: Icons are not displayed for Adobe PDF documents that are listed in the search results when you search your portal site in SharePoint Portal Server 2003 or in SharePoint Server 2007 Sharepoint 2007 and Adobe PDF

During my installation of a screen capture application named Snagit, the setup asked me to provide two DLL’s (unidrv.dll and unidrvui.dll). I searched for them in two directories c:\windows\inf and c:\windows\system32\drivers. In both directories the files were not available. The installation of the application was successful. After a reboot it started showing messages that the application printer was not installed. I uninstall the application and I started again but now with some tips where to find the missing files. If you encounter that these files are missing please follow my guides below: Start “Command Prompt” and type dir unidrv*.dll /s to search for these files. I was lucky and I found mine hidden somewhere (C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86) on the hard disk . If you can’t find the files than open the following file if available C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\sp2.cab and extract the two DLL’s. This fixed my problem and without downloading un-trusted DLL’s from the Internet. You can search for these files but be sure what you are downloading from the web.
